Mes Vacances - La Deuxième Partie - Monaco

Day 4

All it took to get from Nice to Monaco was 1 euro and a short bus ride with beautiful scenic views. When we arrived in Monaco we visited the tourist office to pick up a map and then we proceeded through a park towards the Casino Monte Carlo, of which we took many pictures of outside (It costs 10 euros to go inside and photography is prohibited).  Since it was relatively warm and sunny we then wandered around the waterfront, stopping along the way to take pictures, rest, and avoid all the construction that was going on in Monaco during the off season. By far the most peaceful and relaxing of the places we visited was a Japanese garden commissioned by Princess Grace. It was so amazing just to sit there in the warm sun and listen to the waterfalls while looking out at the brilliantly blue Mediterranean coast. After this rejuvenating experience, we visited the port, where we checked out all the massive yachts and got some paninis for lunch. After lunch we proceeded to the Place des Armes where they have a market and then made the climb up the massive medieval wall up to the necropolis where the palace and other important buildings are located. While the climb was difficult and at times scary, it was well worth it, for the views from a top the cliff were amazing and the tiny streets and alleyways with their multicolored stucco were really cute. After walking around a bit and getting snacks, we rested in a park over looking the port and then headed back down the hill to catch the bus back to Nice. Upon arriving in Nice we had an amazing dinner at a local Italian restaurant in the old part of town. I had three cheese ravioli au gratin with pear and raspberry sorbet for dessert, a perfect end to the day before we prepared for our early morning departure via train to Milan.
