Bienvenue à La Ville Lumière

Welcome to my new blog, La Ville Lumière, where I will post photos, videos, and journals during my semester abroad in Paris during spring 2011. The inspiration for the title of my blog comes from the stereotypical description of Paris as The City of Lights. With a little research, I recently discovered that this terminology originated following the 1828 installation of gas lamps on the Champs De Elysées, garnering Paris the title of The City of Light or La Ville-Lumière. I have been looking forward to studying abroad for years and can't wait to learn more interesting facts as I immerse myself in French language and culture. I leave on January 16 and so excited to start sharing everything I see, hear, and experience with you. Until then, bon journée.
